Billing Reports: review usage and costs on CloudFerro Cloud

Unexpected costs are easier to investigate when you can identify the service, resource, and billing period involved. Billing Reports lets you review the same usage by product type or by individual resource, then export the results for further analysis.

Prerequisites

No. 1 Access to the organization’s billing reports

Sign in to My Portal and check that you are using the organization whose costs you want to review. Identify its project and wallet in Cloud projects/Wallets: manage project billing on CloudFerro Cloud.

No. 2 A billing period and resource context

Choose the dates you want to investigate. Have the project, cloud, and resource name or ID ready when checking a particular charge. To compare the report with OpenStack resources, you also need access to the same project in Horizon.

Check active resources in Horizon

  1. Open the OpenStack interface from the Product catalogue.

  2. Select the region and project you want to investigate.

  3. Open Compute → Overview and find Usage Summary.

  4. Set the reporting period and inspect the listed instances and their flavors.

  5. Note the resource names or IDs needed to find their billing records.

The current resource inventory and a historical billing report answer different questions. A resource removed during the reporting period can still have charges for the time when it was in use.

Review usage and costs

  1. Under Billing and Reporting, open Billing Reports.

  2. Select Billing Reports by Product or Billing Reports by Resource.

  3. Set Date range manually or use a preset such as Today or Last 7 Days.

  4. Choose the Project and Cloud. Use Product to narrow the report to a service or flavor; its search field helps find an entry.

  5. If needed, filter by Billing mode, Wallet, or Contract. Billing modes include PPU, PAYG, and FIXED-TERM.

  6. Select Show report and review the usage and amounts below the filters.

Keep the dates and filters the same when comparing the two report types. They aggregate the same underlying usage and should give the same total for the same selection.

Billing Reports by Product

This view groups usage and costs by service category, such as a virtual-machine flavor or object storage. Several virtual machines using the same flavor contribute to that product’s total.

Use it to review spending by service, estimate monthly costs, and prepare accounting or budget summaries. For example, compare the total usage of eo2a.small with eo2a.large without inspecting each virtual machine separately.

Billing Reports by Resource

This view lists the individual resources contributing to the total. Use the resource ID to match a billed virtual machine, storage bucket, or other resource with its project inventory.

Use it to investigate an unexpected charge, attribute costs to workloads, or check whether a resource continued generating charges after it was removed. A resource report identifies which objects incurred costs; check the product interface or monitoring data to determine whether they were idle.

What to compare

Review monthly spending or prepare an accounting summary

By Product

Total usage and cost for each service or flavor.

Investigate an expensive virtual machine or bucket

By Resource

Resource IDs, usage, and amounts for the selected period.

Reconcile costs between projects or teams

By Resource

The resources belonging to each project, using the same date range.

Check a summary against its underlying charges

Identical filters and the total obtained from each view.

Investigate a resource and export the results

  1. Start with the product report to identify the service contributing to the amount.

  2. Switch to the resource report with the same dates and filters.

  3. Match the resource ID with Horizon or Active Services.

  4. For a deleted resource, compare its usage period with the removal time. For a wallet question, check the project’s current and scheduled wallet assignments.

  5. Select Download CSV to save the report. Export both views when you need an accounting summary and the underlying resource records.

Keep the date range and filter selection with your exports so that you can reproduce a monthly review. For an unexpected amount or missing record, prepare the organization, project, resource ID, and reporting period before contacting support.
